Subject:  Frisbee Toss:  Grades:  1-3 & 4-6

Objective (Standard):

 Students will develop fundamental movement skills that are associated with the Frisbee toss..

Enduring Understanding: 

Students will participate in physical activity to achieve and maintain a healthy level of physical fitness.

Essential Questions: 

What fundamental movement skills would you associate with the Frisbee toss?

How will participation in physical activity allow you to maintain a healthy level of fitness?

In what ways will we develop responsible and respectful personal and social behavior skills?

Day One:  Intro to proper techniques of tossing a Frisbee. 

Activity: 

1.      Students will find stretching spots and warm-up.

2.      Instructor will demonstrate proper throwing form with the help of high school student helpers.    .

3.      Self -Assessment:  Students will evaluate their own accuracy of tossing the Frisbee.  Students will evaluate individual improvement in distance. 

4.      Students will also learn how to measure for distance and accuracy for individual distances of their partner.

5.      While the students are completing the formal peer assessment the instructor will use a check off observation sheet that tells whether each student improved, participated, and demonstrated sportsmanship.

6.      When all cooperative groups have completed the assessment and have returned to their spots, then the instructor will review the main points of  the Frisbee toss.

7.      Assess:  Follow Through
